Subway Gives Back To Hospitals

Mid-South Subway® Restaurants Give Back to 11 Local Hospitals

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (May 12, 2020) – Mid-South Subway® restaurant Business Development Agents and local Franchise Owners worked to deliver 1,100 boxed meals to 11 hospitals across the Memphis, Tenn.; Jackson, Tenn.; Columbus-Tupelo, Miss., and Corinth, Miss. areas through last week to the healthcare workers on the frontlines helping patients combat the Coronavirus pandemic.

“We received lot of positive feedback from our crews. They were very appreciative of the gesture from Subway during this time. I am one who is among that group,” said Kevin Deaton from Jackson General Hospital.

During this unprecedented time, Subway remains committed to not only providing nutritious meals, but also getting them to those who need it the most. Along with keeping restaurants open and ready to serve, individual Subway Franchise Owners in Memphis have also stepped up in big ways with over 450 additional boxed meals and sweet treats donated in their local community to healthcare workers and first responders, including a local police department.

“This series of donations to our frontline healthcare workers exemplifies how Subway Franchise Owners are woven into the fabric of their local communities. We’re incredibly proud to be a part of this team,” said Jake Ring, Subway Business Development Agent.

In addition to local efforts, Subway and Feeding America® teamed up in April to provide 15 million meals* to feed people nationwide. With Feeding America predicting food banks needing an additional estimated $1.4 billion over the next six months to feed people in need due to the COIVD-19 pandemic, Subway and its guests landed their support by simply ordering their favorite Footlong from participating restaurants through the Subway app, on order.subway.com or by visiting Subway.com.

Subway has also taken steps in restaurant to ensure a safe experience, including increased frequency of cleaning and sanitizing, continued reinforcement of existing health and food safety protocols and moving to a takeout and delivery-only model.

Schooling at Home with Lee Greenwood's Book

Home Schooling Curriculum To Include Lee Greenwood's book "Proud To Be An American"

Los Angeles, Calif. – Martin and Carolyn Forte, founders of Excellence In Education On Line Home School Supply Catalog, are offering a wide variety of homeschool books and educational games that are not found on other sites. One of those packages specifically focuses on Patriotism. Do you know the history of our American Flag? Do you know what it symbolizes? How about the Pledge of Allegiance? This is a fascinating study for the whole family that goes far beyond the Betsy Ross story. The Game Curriculum has put together materials that will enlighten and encourage all ages to learn more about our great country, our founding principles and important traditions.

We begin with Lee Greenwood’s (click on link for Lee Greenwood's story and hear him sing the song.) inspiring musical tribute to America and those who sacrificed to keep us free. He has turned his beautiful song into a colorfully illustrated picture book to help young children understand more about what America stands for. The book includes a download link for his song as well so the whole family can learn and enjoy Proud to be an American. The beautiful illustrations are by Amanda Sekulow, daughter of Jay Sekulow, counsel to President Trump.

Also included in the package is an activity workbook that explains the language of the Pledge for primary age children. The sturdy double-sided placemat shows the flag on one side and complete lyrics for My Country ‘Tis of Thee, God Bless America and The Star-Spangled Banner along with a colorable drawing of the flag and the text of the Pledge of Allegiance on the other side. The Wee Sing patriotic songbook and CD will be enjoyed by the whole family. It includes music for recorder and chords for guitar or ukulele. This is a great time for children to learn an instrument if they haven’t already.

Finally, the Patriotic Unit Study Package includes two books about the origin of the Pledge and the story of our flag. These can be read-alouds for the family or can be read independently by older children and teens. The Story of the Pledge of Allegiance by John Hudson Tiner tells the almost forgotten story behind the creation of the Pledge and the various people who inspired and contributed to it. The Story of the American Flag by Wayne Whipple is a reprint of a book published in 1910 which contains The History of the Stars and Stripes in Picture, Prose, Poetry, and Song. It is a treasure containing little known facts about the history of flags as well as the story of our flag along with patriotic poetry and songs to learn and enjoy.

This package can be the beginning of more interesting studies and research into the amazing story of the United States of America.

We provide a great selection of discounted homeschool books and educational board and card games as well as our Game Curriculum. For one of the best online catalog experiences check out our online homeschool supply catalog.
