George Jones Special Weekend

We were all saddened at the passing of one of Country Music's greatest legendary singers, George Jones on April 26, 2013.  In honor of him and his music KUDZU 104.9 will have a Special George Jones weekend this weekend (5/4/2013-5/5/2013).  We'll be playing at least one George Jones song each hour.  In addition we will have some of the artist in the Country Music field talking about his music and life.  Join us for this great tribute to a Great Country Music artist, George Jones. Universally acknowledged as the father of the bluegrass Dobro, Josh Graves (1927-2006) was not only a pivotal member of Flatt & Scruggs band, the Foggy Mountain Boys, but also created musical patterns followed by subsequent generations of players. Fred Bartenstein, editor of the recently published book Bluegrass Bluesman: A Memoir by Josh Graves, and Tim Graves, master resophonic guitarist and nephew of Josh Graves, will present a program on Josh Graves's life, music, and significance. 2013 Country Music Hall of Fame Inductees Announced
 
The Country Music Association announced that Bobby Bare, "Cowboy" Jack Clement, and Kenny Rogers will become the newest members of the revered Country Music Hall of Fame.
Rogers will be inducted in the "Modern Era Artist" category, while Bare will be inducted in the "Veterans Era Artist" category. Clement will be inducted in the "Non-Performer" category, which is awarded every third year in a rotation with the "Recording and/or Touring Musician Active Prior to 1980," and "Songwriter" categories. Bare, Clement, and Rogers will increase membership in the coveted Country Music Hall of Fame from 118 to 121 members.
